NEEDED: Edgy trans-woman, 18-50, experience not necessary.

Love is complicated. Unsatisfied with the rigid gender roles they have forced themselves into, this is a radical comic love story between a conventional trans-girl and an inflexible trans-dude whose relationship is on the rocks. But when they are forced to open themselves up to more unconventional fluid sexual identities, they unexpectedly discover a more intimate loving relationship.

We are looking for a trans-woman between the ages of 18-50 to act opposite Buck. Ethnic diversity is greatly encouraged but not essential. As the director is very experienced with working with non-actors, all those interested are encouraged to audition! We are looking for a woman with a unique creative presence, an ability to be inventively honest in front of the camera, and a willingness WORK HARD WITH NO ATTITUDE. Most importantly, we want to work with a like-minded artist who is willing to push creative boundaries. There is pay.

BIO FOR JOEL MOFFETT, WRITER + DIRECTOR

Joel Moffett was raised on the island of Maui where he graduated high school from Seabury Hall. He holds an MFA in Film Directing from the American Film Institute and an MFA in Theatre Directing from Humboldt State University.

He has received grants from the NEA, the AFI, the Tides Foundation, the Lane Family Foundation and the Colin Higgins Foundation. Recognition for his film work includes a Student Academy Award, a Student Emmy Award, the Amy Bloch Directing Award and AFI’s highest honor, the Schaffner Award. Collectively, his films have screened in over seventy international film festivals including Cannes and Berlin. His film My Body received the award for Best Short at fourteen film festivals including the Los Angeles International Film Festival, The Uppsala International Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival, the Aspen Short Fest, Cinequest and Clermont Ferrand.

Joel has directed numerous award-winning plays including Havel’s The Memorandum, Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera, and Euripides’ Alcestis. His original play The Middle of Nowhere toured the homeless shelters and soup kitchens of the continental United States.

While in Los Angeles, Joel taught screenwriting and Directing at the American Film Institute for nine years. In addition, he consistently taught screen acting, production and directing classes for the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. Joel has worked as a screenwriter for Alibi Entertainment (London), Hervis Entertainment (Berlin) and Moving Movies (Los Angeles).

In 2007 his short film Horsepower screened at twenty-eight film festivals, winning top honors at seven, including the London Independent Film Festival and the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival.

In 2010 his short film Poi Dogs screened at over sixty film festivals, including Tribeca, Berlin, and Melbourne. Poi Dogs won the Grand Jury Prize for “Best Short” at the Washington D.C. Independent Film Festival, the Platinum Remi Award at the WorldFest Houston, a Cine Golden Eagle Award through the CINE Awards Competition, and the Award of Merit from the Accolade Film Awards Competition. Most notably, Poi Dogs won the sole Award of Merit at the 2010 University Film and Video Association Conference.

Presently Joel serves as Associate Professor in the Academy for Creative Media at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. In this capacity he was awarded a Chancellor’s Citation for Meritorious Teaching in 2010.

This least speaking tour started off in Los Angeles with a workshop at the famous adult shop Pleasure Chest. Then the next day I spoke at the Catalyst Conference in Long Beach and did my Buck Angel Effect.

From there I headed to Atlanta to speak to the guys and girls at one of the oldest transgender conferences in the world. It was the 22nd year for the Southern Comfort Conference. What an honor.

Then the next day I headed to Washington D.C. for the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit for 3 days of amazing speakers. I did the Buck Angel Effect there as well. I think I gained some new fans:)

Off to Dallas from D.C. to be the keynote speaker at a BDSM event that is also 22 years old. Beyond Vanilla. Amazing event and my first time being a keynote at a leather event.

My new friend Cathy and my old friend Reid Mihalko set up a welcome dinner for me the night before thatw as so awesome and lots of great toy sponsors.

While I was there I was booked on the popular morning television show called Ireland A.M. and I also booked an interview with the Irish Times. See below to view and also read the interview.

My parents called after the show and they were so excited to see me on Irish TV. We have Irish roots! Also my Dad sent me this touching email. You first have to understand that my Dad is pretty old school “man” and doesn’t really reach out to me in this way. The fact that he emiled me this is pretty amazing. I remember reading it on my way home from Dublin in the airport and crying with joy.

The students were awesome and asked so many great questions. I showed a 30 minute piece I put together for my workshops with clips from Sexing The Transman. They loved it. Many had never seen a trans man before let alone known anything about their sexuality. So it was very powerful.

Buck was born genetically female but lived much of his childhood generally treated and accepted as a boy by family and peers. The onset of puberty, however, started a confusing time that led to extreme distress and loathing over what he was feeling. Unfortunately, Buck turned to drugs and alcohol to deal with the conflict. Despite a successful career as a female high-fashion model, the self-destructive behaviors continued to take him in a downward spiral.

Buck began taking the necessary hormones and underwent breast-removal surgery. His transformation has led to peace and self-acceptance. After gender reassignment, Buck Angel began working in the Adult-Industry as a Fetish filmmaker and website creator for the male-to-female (MTF) on-line market. Buck Angel made history as the Adult Industry’s first female-to-male Porn Star and Adult-film producer. Buck Angel used his fame and resources to create Public Service Announcements on health for transsexuals, gays, and women around sensitive issues with very little information available.

Now Buck Angel is the man he has always wanted to be. His message of empowerment through self-acceptance is universal, despite his unique accomplishments.
